Bonaire Marine Park


Known as the oldest marine reserve in the world, the Bonaire National Marine Park covers more than 6,000 acres and extends to 200 ft. of depth. Established in 1979, the park's mission is to preserve and protect the island's resources. Washington Slagbaai National Park

1000 Steps

SLAVE HUTS & OBELISKS


Constructed in the 1850s during a time of slavery, Bonaire's slave huts were sleeping quarters for slaves working in the salt ponds. Four brightly colored obelisks were constructed to help ships navigate the area to gather the goods for export.

Soak Up The Sun

Bonaire is located outside of the hurricane belt and temperatures remain constant year-round, averaging about 81°F (28.5°C) each day.

Official Currency

The official currency on Bonaire is the US dollar and most banks on Bonaire are open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

What to Wear

Bonaire is laid-back and informal. Evening wear is typically casual. It is not permitted to remove any part of your swimwear on the beach or around resort pools.

Road Rules

On Bonaire, vehicles drive on the right-hand side of the road and international traffic signals are used. Foreign and international driver's licenses are valid.

Drinking Water Safety

There is no need to purchase bottled water on Bonaire as the island’s water is pure and safe to drink.

Plug In

The current is 127V, 50 cycles, and most 110V and 120V devices will work on Bonaire. The island has a higher voltage than the US, so anything plugged in should be monitored.

Shop 'Til You Drop

Speak My Language

On Bonaire, most inhabitants are fluent in English, Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamento. Dutch is the official language of Bonaire, as it’s a Dutch colony.

Smoking Section

Smoking at our resort is only allowed on private patios and balconies and in designated smoking areas. Smoking is not allowed on the piers or anywhere near the dive shop.

According to the most recent census, 20,000 people live on Bonaire, which is located 55 miles/86 km north of Venezuela and 86 miles/94 km east of Aruba.

What's the Time?

Bonaire follows Atlantic Standard Time year-round. During the fall and winter, 12 p.m. on the east coast of the United States is 1 p.m. on the island.
